Home > Breast Pumps/Breast Milk Coverage from KanCare

UnitedHealthcare, as the other two MCOs, follows state guidelines and provides one manual or electric breast pump per year (if pregnant), which clients are able to obtain prior to delivery of their baby.  Usually backpack/tote versions aren’t covered but client could cover the cost difference if they wanted to upgrade.  Replacement parts for the pump are covered. Breast pumps can be ordered calling member services, online, or at a local DME provider in network.

Donor Human Milk prescribed for critically ill infants under the age of 3 months in a neonatal intensive care unit of a hospital is also covered.

UHC KanCare also provides many extra benefits, such as BabyBlocks.com (rewards for attending doctor visits throughout pregnancy and baby’s first 15 months of life); a $200 debit card reward for getting the first prenatal visit in the first trimester (42 days); 12 round trip health-related free rides such as to grocery stores, food pantries, job interviews, support group meetings, WIC appointments, etc.; and additional adult dental coverage for up to $500/year.

Transportation benefits are in addition to the state mandated free rides to medical appointments. UHC also offers mileage reimbursement when the member, or a friend or relative, uses their own car.
