The Providing Urgent Maternal Protections (PUMP) for Nursing Mothers Act (S. 3170) has been introduced in the Senate with bipartisan support. The PUMP for Nursing Mothers Act would strengthen the federal Break Time law by 1) Closing the coverage gap; 2) Providing employers clarity on when pumping time must be paid and when it may be unpaid; and 3) Providing remedies for nursing mothers.

Individuals are invited to contact their Members of Congress about the PUMP for Nursing Mothers Act with USBC’s online action tool: “Ask your Members of Congress to Support Breastfeeding Employees.” Individuals who have already contacted their Senators and Representative through the online action tool are encouraged to reach out again.
