The KBC Public Health Section completed the series outlining the criteria to become a Breastfeeding Friendly Local Health Department with an overview of Criteria #7 (LHD has at least one staff member with a lactation support credential listed on the U.S. Breastfeeding Committee Lactation Support Provider Descriptor Table or who has completed the KBC’s Breastfeeding 101 and 201 courses.

Laura Canelos with United HealthCare gave an update on Kancare renewals.
World Breastfeeding Week promotions include Saline County WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor (Kori) and Designated Breastfeeding Expert (Mona) who were featured on the radio discussing World Breastfeeding Week in August.
Linn County Health Department (Amanda Snyder) hosted a World Breastfeeding Week Celebration Brunch on August 3rd in Pleasanton, Kansas. The KBC staff member, Vanessa Flood was the featured speaker for the event.
Kristen Alhareedi attended the U.S. Breastfeeding Committee national conference and shared her experience with the group.
Brenda Bandy presented “Low Milk Supply” to the Ellsworth County Health Department on June 6th. The KBC can provide “lunch & learns” on other topics to any interested group.
