The KBC Public Health Section is continuing the deep dive into the criteria of becoming a “Breastfeeding Friendly Local Health Department.”  Our April meeting discussed the requirements for criteria #6 which is referring families for prenatal breastfeeding education or the local health department can provide the prenatal breastfeeding education.  Links were provided for implementation ideas and prenatal breastfeeding education resources.  Our guest speaker, Olivia Burzoni with KDHE discussed the Kansas Cancer Prevention Control Plan which includes breastfeeding as a strategy for moms to prevent cancer. The section meets on the 3rd Thursday of even months. Our next meeting will be June 15, 11 am-12 pm.
