
Lydia O. Boyd, IBCLC, CBE-EXPERT, CLE, Doula is an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant and co-founder of The B.L.A.C.K. Course, a culturally relevant lactation training program centering Black communities. Lydia began supporting families in 2007 through Black Infant Health and has worked across public health, WIC, and private practice. She currently serves as the Lactation Consultant and Perinatal Educator at the MLKCH Community Lactation Clinic in Compton, CA, while maintaining a thriving private practice. Her work is rooted in cultural reclamation, joyful feeding, and community-led education. Lydia is featured in Chocolate Milk: The Documentary Series and has served in leadership roles with Soul Food for Your Baby. She has received multiple grants to expand lactation access and support, including the Village Fund. In 2025, Lydia was honored with the California Lactation Justice Award by the California Breastfeeding Coalition for her leadership and community impact. Lydia believes “Black families birth genius babies who are fed on the best milk in town.”
