Families turn to their pediatrician for breastfeeding information and support. The Kansas Breastfeeding Friendly Physician Practice Designation is designed to provide physicians with the latest information, resources, and tools to strengthen their breastfeeding support. It is administered by the KBC with support from the Kansas Chapter of the AAP.

The Breastfeeding Friendly Physician Practice designation has five criteria. Meeting the requirements of one criterion earns the practice a “star”, with up to five stars being possible. See the designation application for details.

The first five practices to enroll will receive the following from the KBC:

  • 1-hour in-office “lunch & learn” training for physicians and staff presented by a physician, including lunch and 1 CME
  • $1,000 Professional development stipend for one staff member to become an IBCLC
  • Toolkit of current resources, including policy templates, patient education handouts, etc.
  • Free technical assistance to achieve the designation
  • 1 free registration for a staff member to attend the 2025 Kansas Breastfeeding Conference in Wichita on Oct. 16-17

Physician practices enroll by submitting this brief form to Brenda Bandy, Executive Director of the Kansas Breastfeeding Coalition, at bbandy@ksbreastfeeding.org
